The American company Under Armour is mostly known for its clothing and compression gear. But with their new releases, has Under Armour finally declared itself capable of creating high quality soccer shoes that can compare to the big brands?

After only being in the soccer market for a short period of time, Under Armour seems to be constantly improving with each new release. The Hydrastrike Pro II is the second release of the kangaroo leather series. After previously releasing the Dominate as their first leather boot and then the Hydrastrike, the new release comes in as the most impressive boot for me out of the three.

What separates this boot from the past releases is the use of technology throughout the boot to create a much lighter and higher performing shoe. It weighs in at a fairly light 7.9 ounces. Take into consideration that this boot features a kangaroo leather upper. The upper is treated with Under Armour’s H20i water intelligence technology which repels water to keep your feet dry and comfortable. Along with this, there are some other technologies to note:

  • 4D Foam foot-bed – a very soft insole that forms to your foot for a customized fit.
  • Micro G mid-sole – additional layer of light and and low cushioning for added support.
  • CoreSpeed Chassis – moves in-sync with the foot for optimized acceleration and change of direction.

After releasing a good amount of cleats now, I would expect for this round of releases to be the best yet for Under Armour.
